About This Tour:

You will get a feel for how Japanese villagers lived in the Edo period when you see their houses preserved in their original condition, along with the tools and furniture that they used. You can also participate in seasonal activities, arts and crafts, or try out some old-fashioned toys.

Your guide, a native English-speaker and long-time resident of Hida Takayama, will give you an in-depth explanation of the Folk Village and the exhibits there.

After visiting the Folk Village, you will hike up the mountain behind it to the site of an old castle. From the top, you can see the whole of Takayama, as well as the mountains beyond. Your guide will point out edible plants and other interesting points along the way.

After your hike, you can head down the hill to browse the shops or get refreshments.
